The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has summoned two Supreme Court Justices to appear before the commission.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, a reliable source revealed that the justices summoned are Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir and Justice Azmiralda Zahir. The JSC is accusing the two justices of attempting to influence judges of the Criminal Court.

JSC has instructed Judge Azmiralda to appear at 11am on Sunday. Justice Mahaz has been instructed to appear at 1pm on Sunday.

The two justices have been summoned to the JSC at a time Judge Husnu Al Suood, Judge Mahaz Ali Zahir, and Dr. Azmiralda Zahir were suspended on 26 February 2025, during a meeting held by the JSC.

Subsequently, on March 4, Supreme Court Justice Husnu Al Suood resigned, stating that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had violated the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.

It has been revealed that the justices were suspended in connection with an ongoing investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). However, the ACC has not disclosed the nature of the case.

The justices’ cases are being examined and they have been suspended while the hearing of a case to nullify the constitutional amendment allowing political parties to strip parliamentarians of their seats, had just begun. In addition to this, on 26 February 2025, the People's Majlis passed a bill that would force the removal of two Supreme Court justices.
