69 members voted to appoint Salah as Vice President

Zahid and Salah were appointed as EC members in January

The People’s Majlis has given approval for the appointment of Mohamed Zahid, who is currently serving as a member of the Elections Commission (EC), as the President of the Commission, and Abdul Rahman Salah Rasheed as the Vice President.

Both individuals received approval during the parliamentary sitting held on Monday morning.

Zahid was appointed with unanimous approval from all 68 lawmakers who participated in the vote.

69 members voted to appoint Salah as Vice President.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Zahid and Salah as EC members on 26 January 2025.
