Privately-run television station RaajjeTV is gearing up to a provide comprehensive live coverage of the referendum scheduled for this Saturday, which will decide whether Hulhudhoo, Meedhoo, and Feydhoo will be administratively separated from the Addu City Council to form their own councils.

Live reporting will begin at midnight, with continuous updates on voting progress available on RaajjeTV and the Raajje.mv website. Teams will be stationed at voting centers across Addu as well as in Malé City, providing real-time information from locations where ballot boxes are placed.

In the referendum, the distribution of ballot boxes is as follows: seven boxes at Kalaafaanu School in Malé City, five boxes at Feydhoo School, three boxes at IUM Addu City Learning Center in Meedhoo, and three boxes at Seenu Atoll School in Hulhudhoo.

The Elections Commission has clarified that voters previously registered in islands outside Malé City for parliamentary elections will have their registration updated to their permanent address islands unless they re-register. Voting will be conducted from 8am to 4pm on Saturday, with campaigning permitted until 6pm on 24 October 2025.

Voters must present an official identification document, which may include a valid Maldivian National ID card, passport card, Maldivian passport, or driving license. Digital copies or printed versions of documents will not be accepted. A valid vote requires a single, clear mark next to the preferred option on the ballot paper.

Voters can verify their polling locations by sending an SMS to 1414 with “VR (Space) NID No” or through the Elections Commission’s website. The commission has urged citizens to check their registration details and confirm their designated voting centers in advance.

According to the Elections Commission, a total of 9,576 individuals are on the permanent voter list for these three islands, with an additional 255 people re-registered during the recent re-registration period.
