Man falls to his death from 12th floor of Hulhumalé STELCO tower

An individual has fallen to his death from the 12th floor of the STELCO flat building in Hulhumalé.
In a message sent to the media, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the person who fell from the 12th floor of the STELCO flat building and died has been identified as Ibrahim Sharaf, 31, of H. Giniraahi.
The police institution has not disclosed the reason why the person fell from the 12th floor, yet.
In a message shared with the media on Monday, the police institution confirmed that they were responding to a report of a Maldivian youth found fallen on the sea-facing side of STELCO’s C Tower.
The police said that the person who fell was already dead when found.
While a video showing police activity in the area where the youth fell is circulating on social media, the police have not disclosed when exactly the person fell from the tower or the details of how the incident occurred.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the incident.
MPS has also appealed on the public to respect the family's privacy during this time of grief following the individual’s death and has requested that photos of the deceased or scenes from the incident not be shared on social media.
