Discussions held on enhancing Maldives-Nepal relations
Maldives and Nepal established diplomatic relations on 1 August 1980
The Ambassador of Nepal presented credentials to the president on Monday
Discussions have been held on ways to enhance the relations between the governments of Maldives and Nepal.
This was done during a meeting Ambassador of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal to the Maldives Bashu Dev Mishra held with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, following a ceremony to present his credentials.
The ceremony, held at the President’s Office on Monday, saw Ambassador Mishra presenting his Letters of Credence to the Maldivian leader.
Ambassador Mishra was escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession, with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
Accepting his credentials, President Muizzu welcomed the new Nepalese ambassador to the Maldives.
Shedding light on the large population of Nepali workers in the Maldives, the Maldivian leader and the Nepalese ambassador discussed ways to boost cooperation.
Expressing gratitude to the government of Nepal for the continuous assistance provided to the development of human resources in the Maldives especially in the health sector, President Muizzu expressed hope to boost ties further.
The new Nepalese ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and resides in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Maldives and Nepal established diplomatic relations on 1 August 1980.
