No irregularities in flat allocation to Rajunee: police

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that there were no irregularities in the allocation of a flat to head of the Economic Crime Department Rajunee Shuaib.

MPS has wrapped up an investigation into the case of Superintendent of Police Rajunee Shuaib, who has been accused on social media of obtaining a Vinares flat through corruption. He was relieved of his official duties on 31 December 2024.

He was relieved of his responsibilities following the circulation of information on social media suggesting that he had obtained a Vinares flat through irregular means.

Following reports on social media alleging that Superintendent of Police Rajunee, the Head of Economic Crime Department at the police institution had improperly received a flat from the Vinares housing project in violation of procedures, he was relieved of his duties. After examining the information shared by relevant authorities to determine if any procedural violations occurred in obtaining the flat, no such issues were identified.

Reports have surfaced claiming that flats in the Vinares housing project were being allocated unfairly, with allegations also pinned against some individuals for receiving flats in exchange for bribes. It has also been reported that some parties obtained flats by submitting fake documents, including obtaining flats using fake slips without making payments.
