The number of operational tourist accommodation establishments has risen.
This was revealed by the latest weekly statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday.
As such, the ministry’s figures revealed that as of December 25, the number of operational tourist accommodation facilities across the Maldives sat at 1,267. The guesthouses span across 117 islands of 19 atolls, with hotels operational on nine islands of eight atolls. Sixty-eight percent of the bed capacity is occupied by resorts, followed by 24 percent occupied by guesthouses, five percent by safari vessels, and three percent by hotels.
Presently, a total of 63,190 tourist beds are in operation across these facilities, which include 172 resorts, 925 guesthouses, 15 hotels, and 155 live-aboard vessels.
The beds operational across these facilities include 42,547 in resorts, 2,028 in hotels, 15,563 in guesthouses, and 3,052 in live-aboard vessels.
