Maldives Police Service (MPS) has requested to share information related to the fire that burned down the building housing the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development.
MPS stated that if anyone has any information that could be useful in the investigation of the fire incident that occurred on the morning of December 12 in the building where three ministries were operating, to contact the Major Crime Investigation through 9911099.
The fire that broke out in the building where the housing ministry was operating could not be controlled, and the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy as well as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Vital Island Section of the Malé City Council located on the block were scorched beyond use.
As the investigation into the fire continues, it has been revealed that an external investigation team will be brought in to assist in the probe into the incident.
However, before the investigation commences, the work of demolishing and clearing the scorched building has already started.
Since the incident came to light, several questions have surfaced in connection with the fire.
Some people have alleged that this might have been done “intentionally”.
However, no clear information regarding the allegations or other findings have been disclosed so far.
