Maldives’ most recent football champion team Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has begun their pre-season training.
Maziya has started their training sessions at a time the Football Association of Maldives (FAM)’s Normalization Committee has begun work on starting the new football season in the Maldives next year.
The committee is working to kick off the Maldives’ football season in January 2025. Chairman of FAM's Normalization Committee Ahmed Zuhoor earlier told RaajjeMV that the season-opening match is scheduled for January 24.
He also noted that the details have already been shared with the clubs, and they are working to kick off the Maldives’ league on February 25.
Zuhoor said that several clubs have been requesting to delay the start of the season due to financial challenges they are facing.
Maziya's training sessions kicked off on Wednesday under the guidance of foreign coach Dragan Dukanovic.
Maziya is presently the only club that has started pre-season training in preparation for the upcoming football season.
