Maldives is in Group C in the qualifications, along with Bhutan, South Korea, China, and Bahrain.

In the first match played against Bhutan on Saturday, the game ended in a 2 – 2 draw.

Bhutan scored two goals and took the lead.

Maldives managed to amp up its game and scored two goals to equalize the score.

Seven minutes into the second half of the game, Bhutan’s Sayon Lama gave the team the lead with the first goal.

Thinley Yezer extended their lead with a second goal not long after.

Maldives' efforts to score succeeded in the 70th minute.

11 minutes after scoring the team’s first goal, Mohamed Ilaan Imrah scored a second goal.

The second match of the qualifications will be against Bahrain, on Monday.

After playing the third match against South Korea on Wednesday, Maldives’ fourth match will be against China on Friday.
