An airport luggage vehicle has crashed, claiming the life of its driver.

The deceased has been identified as a 45-year-old man.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has revealed that the luggage vehicle collided with the base of a structure supporting lights and cameras while being driven.

MPS revealed that the driver was initially taken to a clinic and subsequently transferred to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

According to the police institution, the incident was reported to them at approximately 9:28am on Tuesday.

Further, MPS revealed that the driver had already passed away when he was taken to the clinic.  

Further examinations were conducted at IGMH.

MPS cited hospital officials having confirmed that there were no visible external injuries on the body.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
