A man has been arrested in an alcohol bust.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Thursday revealed that officers patrolling the streets of Hulhumalé Phase I were tipped off regarding a case of alcohol possession.

They stopped and searched a car after the intel report.

Arrested in connection with the case is a Sri Lankan national, Tharindu Maheshaka, 25.

Officers who stopped and searched the vehicle near Amin Avenue confiscated 28 bottles of alcohol.

The vehicle has since been towed.

Further investigations are presently underway, at the Hulhumalé Phase I Police Station.
