Maldives is off to a good start in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women's Volleyball Challenge cup, after an effortless victory against Afghanistan in straight sets.
In the match played on Friday evening Afghanistan barely managed to put up a fight against Maldives, only in the first set.
The very close first set was won by Maldives 25-19. In the second and third sets, Maldives stepped up its game and won the second set 25-12, the third set 25-11.
With this win, Maldives will face Tajikistan on Saturday evening.
Tajikistan lost straight sets by Kyrgyzstan in the tournament's first match on Friday evening.
The scores were 25-17, 25-15, and 25-21.
The tournament is proceeding from September 6 – 11.
Teams from Maldives, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are competing.
The final will be played between the winner of the match between the top team and the fourth-placed team from the league round, and the winner of the match between the second and third-placed teams.
