The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has urged caution against the spread of conjunctivitis.

The public health authority stressed that it is necessary to recognize the symptoms of eye infections and take protective measures.

Some of the symptoms of conjunctivitis include fever, eye irritation, watery eyes, eye discharge, and redness of the eye.

HPA has urged the public to seek medical attention from a doctor or healthcare provider as soon as possible, if they exhibit symptoms or contract the infection.

In response to HPA’s appeal for caution against conjunctivitis, an official at the public health authority told RaajjeMV that people should always be cautious about protecting themselves and others from viral diseases.

Further, the HPA official noted that usually, after a spell of bad weather begins clearing up, various viral fevers and diseases tend to spread.

The official has shed light on the significance of being cautious about this.

HPA has urged the public to frequently wash their hands with soap, clean commonly touched objects and surfaces, avoid touching or rubbing eyes, safely dispose off used tissues and refrain from using eye drops that have been used by someone with an eye infection, to adequately protect against infections.
