One injured in massive warehouse fire in K. Thilafushi
The fire broke out inside the Marinedo Workshop
The building was engulfed in flames and the area was enveloped in thick plumes of smoke
A fire broke out inside a workshop in Thilafushi island of Kaafu atoll, injuring one.
A team of firefighters from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service was deployed to douse the massive fire that broke out inside the Marinedo Workshop at the industrial island.
MNDF revealed that they received reports of the fire at around 08:36am on Thursday morning.
Upon receiving the report, MNDF swiftly dispatched a team of the Malé Area Command and Thilafushi Fire Station’s firefighters to the area where the workshop was engulfed in flames.
MNDF Fire and Rescue Service’s Malé Fire Station firefighters also arrived in Thilafushi island to assist in efforts by Thilafushi Fire Station officials to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters from the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service were able to bring the fire under control at 09:46am so that the fire at the workshop would not spread further.
The massive fire was fully doused at around 11:04am.
The neighboring godowns are to have attained major damages in the fire as well.
One was treated for injuries and smoke inhalation at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and has been discharged since.
