Arrests have been made in connection with allegations of drug possession, use and trafficking.

In a message to media houses on Monday, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that two individuals were arrested in connection with the case on Sunday evening.

Arrested were Nazeeh Shareef, 27 and native to Maamendhoo island of Gaaf Alif atoll and Muhsin Mohamed, 30 and native to Fuvahmulah City.

They are accused of using and peddling drugs.

Officers stopped the two individuals for suspicious behavior on the streets of the capital Malé City,

They were found in possession of substances suspected to be narcotics, weighing 69 grams.

Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for their remand hearing, they were remanded for a 15-day period.

Further investigations are currently underway.
