The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has wrapped up a school traffic monitor program at Dhaal Atoll Education Center.

The police institution revealed that the program concluded with the closing ceremony held on July 3.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Abdul Rahman, Head of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, ACP Rahman shed light on the importance of knowledge and skills students acquired over the course of the five-day program.

Encouraging students to share what they learned during the program with their peers, Rahman urged them to act as role models within the school community.

Further, he emphasized the significance of applying these new skills practically and pushed students to constantly work towards setting a positive example.

During the ceremony, he urged parents to respect traffic rules and regulations and to support their children in their roles as traffic monitors, by following their instructions.

An initiative that carried the purpose of promoting road safety awareness and prevention, the program was held from June 29 – July 3 in partnership with the Kudahuvadhoo Police Station.

It provided a platform for students to gain a thorough understanding of the Road Traffic Act and regulations with a strong focus on student safety and security.

Participants of the program acquired training in maintaining good manners while interacting with the public, both on the streets as well as within school premises.

34 students from Dhaal Atoll Education Center participated in the program, which came as part of an extensive efforts to boost road safety and community responsibility among young students, which in turn equips them with the knowledge and skills to contribute to a safer environment for all.
