The abundant resources Maldives has been blessed with, are significant prospects for a prosperous economy for the island nation, says President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The president said this in a social media post made on the occasion of the World Oceans Day.
As such, President Muizzu stated that the strategic placement of Maldivian waters on the world map as well as its natural beauty, its abundant resources and wealth are some of the most significant prospects for a prosperous economy for the island nation.
President Muizzu’s administration is conducting multiple prominent events to celebrate World Oceans Day this year.
Some of these events include a quiz competition, an information session titled "Kan'dufalhah loa hulhuvamaa" organised by the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources, a "Discover Dive" aimed at children and a nationwide swimming programme titled "Emmen Moodhah".
Further, another event titled “Kan'du Roadhi Ufaa Festival" is also being organized, to be held in Hulhumalé.
World Oceans Day revolves around the theme “Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean and Climate” this year.
World Oceans Day is marked on June 8 every year.
