President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended condolences following the passing of President of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid’s father, Sheikh Moosa Jameel.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday, President Muizzu expressed deep sorrow in learning of the passing of former minister’s father, Moosa Jameel.
The president prayed for eternal peace in Jannah for the late Sheikh.
In a post on ‘X’ following his father’s passing, Shahid stated that his father was his biggest strength throughout his life and that he was his most sincere advisor and most sincere critic.
Shahid went on to state that his father had shaped his personality, guided his career, and advised him in every step of the way.
The former minister stated that his father’s integrity, his strength of character, his patience, passion for what he believed in, and his pleasant disposition, always inspired him and that on every instance he looks over his shoulder, his father had been there, ever so gentle and caring.
Shahid revealed that his father had been ill for quite some time before passing away.
He had even regularly sought treatment at ADK Hospital.
Alongside President Muizzu, senior government officials as well as top figures in the political sphere have been extending condolences to the bereaved family.
Sheikh Moosa Jameel had five children; Abdulla Shahid, Mohamed Shahid, Ahmed Shahid, Fathimath Shahidha and Aminath Shahidha out of whom he is survived by the three sons.
His daughters passed away in a drowning incident back in 1980.
The late sheikh’s funeral prayer was held at the Islamic Center after Asr prayer and he was laid to rest at the Galolhu cemetry.
