Eva Abdulla has lost the North Galolhu seat in the People’s Majlis, to candidate of the former ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Mohamed “Kudoo” Ibrahim.

Candidates from the now ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), main opposition MDP and former President Mohamed Nasheed’s ‘The Democrats’ had contested for the North Galolhu seat in Sunday’s parliamentary polls.

Four independent candidates also contested for the seat.

Interim results show that Kudoo has the lead in almost all ballot boxes of the constituency, except for one; North Galolhu Box Number 1.

Government-endorsed independent candidate Aminath Miyadha got the most votes in that one ballot box.

A total of 3,832 constituents were eligible to vote out of which 2,074 exercised their right to vote.

After provisional results began rolling in, Eva, who was the former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, and presently represents the constituency at parliament, took to social media platforms to congratulate her opponent and announce that she accepts defeat.

Eva also expressed her sincere gratitude to the constituents of North Galolhu for the trust and confidence they had placed in her, during her term.
