The Ministry of Social and Family Development has opened the opportunity for nominee submissions for this year’s Rehendhi Awards.

Previously named the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Service, the ministry initiated the awarding ceremony in 2014 to celebrate women who contribute their progressive work to the betterment of the nation, the ones who empower the youth to push themselves to reach their full potential, the great accomplishments of the ones who strive to succeed and to increase the count of female employees in significant fields, including ones to which women are yet to be introduced.

Bold and progressive women of the country have been claiming the good name since 2014.

The ministry revealed that the recipients will be selected by the ‘Rehendhi Awards Evaluation Committee’ constituted by the ministry for this purpose.

A shield and a brooch designed to be used during any national occasion, will be awarded as ‘Rehendhi Awards’.

Relevant documents required to be submitted along with the form have been listed in the application form, revealed the ministry.

The ministry went on to reveal that individuals may nominate themselves and others and that institutions, offices, companies and committees of women development can also submit nominations.

Highlighting that women and NGOs are eligible to apply under four categories this year, the ministry detailed that these categories are the leadership and governance category, the category for economic empowerment, the category for social empowerment as well as the category for the field of work or “non-traditional roles” that women are usually not a part of.

According to the ministry, applicants may apply for any of these categories.

After filling out the application forms, it must be submitted along with all necessary documents throughemail.

Applications will be available between 9am to 2pm on working days, at the front desk of the Umar Zahir Office building.

The ministry added that every document attached to applications must support the work done by the applicant, as well as reflect her achievements in the field of application for the award.

Nominations will be accepted until 2pm, 18 April 2024.
