Authorities have identified individuals suspected of stealing belongings of a tourist in the southern city of Fuvahmulah.
Spokesperson at the Maldives Police Service (MPS), Ahmed Shifan revealed that they have been investigating a case of individuals stealing the belongings of a tourist in Fuvahmulah City.
As part of the investigation, authorities recently found the identities of the suspects.
Video footage has been circulating on social media platforms, showing the victim explaining how his belongings were stolen.
The tourist revealed that two young men had approached him to question him about a drone he was operating on the beach, and that he thought they seemed friendly.
After landing the drone, the tourist is to have gone for a dip in the sea.
By then, the two young men who approached him, also the suspects in the case, were no where to be seen, according to the tourist.
However, he is to have spotted them approaching his belonging and snatching his drone and a small bag he was carrying, which contained his mobile phone, his wallet, credit cards, important documents, the key to his motorcycle, MVR 1,500 in cash and USD 200 in cash.
The police institution is yet to publicize the details of the suspects.
Further investigations are currently underway.
