The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has begun efforts to seek the essential information and details for the process of reconstituting the Minimum Wage Advisory Board.

The ministry revealed that the ‘Minimum Wage Advisory Board’ constituted under Sections 1-59 of the Employment Act to assess the performance of employees at various business establishments and other establishments and to advise the Minister on the minimum wages to be paid to those working there, is to be re-established, and efforts were underway to successfully complete the process by collecting all the required data.

Further, NGOs and institutions that wish to join the board will be allowed to register with the ministry.

Applications are open in multiple different sectors.

As such, some of these include organizations representing the tourism sector, those representing the construction sector, those representing the sector of women entrepreneurs, those representing small and medium enterprises as well as organizations representing workers or other employees.

The ministry has urged those interested in representing these organizations at the Minimum Wage Advisory Board, to register by filing an application before 11:59pm, March 25.
