Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a manhunt for an individual wanted to be presented before court in connection with an ongoing probe.

The police institution revealed that the case is being investigated by the Hulhumalé Magistrate Court.

The court instructed MPS to locate the man, take him into police custody and present him before court, as their efforts to locate him and summon him to court have been to no avail so far.

Following the court order, MPS publicized the manhunt on Thursday.

Being sought is Ali Shiyan, 29 and native to Hulhudhoo district of southernmost Addu City.

Shiyan is being located regarding charges of failing to take permission for something that requires pre-authorization.

MPS is required to locate him and take him into their custody before presenting him to court at 9:30am on March 25.

The public has been urged to reach out to the Police Custodial Department through 9991442 if any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, is attained.
