Expat rescued from captivity in Malé home

A foreign man who was held captive in a house in the capital Malé City has been rescued.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Thursday revealed that in response to a case reported at around 6am on July 3, regarding a person being held captive illegally in a house in Malé, officers broke down the lock of the premises and forcibly entered to rescue the victim.
The police institution revealed that the victim was a Bangladeshi man. However, they did not disclose any details about the house where he was held captive.
Further, MPS highlighted that the man was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), and necessary medical examinations are being conducted to assess his health condition. The police institution also highlighted that no visible external injuries were observed.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
