Malé City Council has begun disposing of wooden pallets, placed illegally on the streets of the capital.
Complaints have been growing from the general public, regarding the pallets placed on the streets of the congested capital in a way that creates inconveniences for pedestrians as well as those using vehicles.
A large number of wooden pallets have been positioned at the entrances of residences as well as shops in the capital region.
The City Council on Monday publicized on social media platform ‘X’, photos of their employees picking up such pallets.
The photos published by the city council show their employees ridding the streets of pallets from the area of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
However, they have not yet disclosed an exact number of pallets that were thrown away.
With a large number of pallets scattered in several parts of the city, individuals have also been facing challenges in parking their vehicles.
