Discussions held on boosting cooperation with Oman on visa facilitation

Ambassador Rashdi is accredited as a non-resident ambassador and resides in neighboring Sri Lanka

Discussions have been held on boosting cooperation with the government of Oman, on visa facilitation.

This was done during a meeting the newly appointed Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Maldives Ahmed Ali Said Al Rashdi held with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Rashdi presented his Letters of Credence to the Maldivian leader on Monday, as the new Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Maldives.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around areas for enhancing collaboration including visa facilitation and increased high-level visits from both countries.

Muizzu expressed gratitude to the government of Oman for the support it has extended to the Maldivian government in the past.

The newly appointed ambassador of Oman also paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer on Monday.

The meeting saw FM Zameer congratulating the ambassador on his appointment and expressing appreciation for the government of Oman for remaining a reliable friend to the Maldives over the years.

FM Zameer also expressed gratitude to the Omani government for the generous support and assistance offered to the island nation over the years.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Ambassador Rashdi offered assurances of his commitment to boost the existing bilateral relations between the two countries even further, during his ambassadorial tenure.

The meeting was joined by Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya, Bilateral Secretary Dr. Hala Hameed, Joint Secretary Mariyam Reesha and Assistant Director Lamha Saleem.

Ambassador Rashdi is accredited as a non-resident ambassador and resides in neighboring Sri Lanka.

Maldives and Oman established diplomatic ties on 20 February 1981.
