A Pakistani national, arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs into the Maldives, has been remanded.

The Criminal Court slapped the Pakistani national with a 30-day remand period.

Arrested in connection with the case was a 56-year-old Pakistani national.

The suspect’s remand period will expire on 12 April 2024.

The court order cited the Maldives Police Service (MPS) having revealed that more than five kilograms of narcotics were confiscated from the bag he had brought when he arrived in the Maldives.

His remand was ordered for the safety and security of the community.
