A total of 222.5 tons of waste have been collected from different regions of the congested capital, Malé City over the course of the last 16 days.

This was revealed by Mayor of Malé City Council Adam Azim via a post on social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday.

Azim revealed that 22.5 tons of waste were collected from different regions of the capital, within just four hours.

Further, he stated that 222.5 tons of waste were collected over the course of the past 16 days.

The mayor noted that this is the waste of nine containers with a height of 25 feet.

At a time the issue of waste being dumped on the roads of the capital city has been a growing concern among citizens, the city council has been making tireless efforts to resolve this issue.

As part of these efforts, 59.6 tons of garbage were collected from the roads of the capital on Sunday alone.

Mayor Azim has urged the public to pay special attention to cleanliness and hygiene and work together to keep the roads of the city free from waste.

He added that keeping residential areas, homes, and the neighborhoods clean would make it easier for everyone and help maintain a peaceful environment as well.
