Police destroy large stash of alcohol in GA. Villingili

A large stash of alcohol in police custody which was confiscated during multiple operations, has been destroyed in Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the alcohol was destroyed on March 2.

Destroyed in Villingili island were 190 bottles of alcohol and 67 cans of beer.

The alcohol was destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police committee and under the set legal procedure for it.

MPS revealed that the destroyed alcohol and beers were handed over to them by officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) at Kooddoo Airport.

MNDF officers at Kooddoo Airport confiscated the bottles of alcohol and cans of beer from tourists that arrived at the airport for departure, between 26 December 2023 to 27 January 2024.
