An individual has been arrested in connection with a drug operation, conducted in Gadhdhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) on Wednesday confirmed that the arrest was made as part of the police institution’s efforts to curb drug trafficking and smuggling attempts across the country and crackdown on such networks.
The police institution revealed that the operation was conducted by Gadhdhoo officers, on suspicion of drug peddling near a residence on the island.
Arrested in connection with the case was a 24-year-old man.
13 rubber packets filled with suspected narcotics, were confiscated by officers who stopped the man and searched him as part of the operation.
Gadhdhoo police station is currently probing the case further.
