The physical work of the shore protection project initiated in Kinolhas island of Raa atoll, has commenced.
The groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of the project’s physical work, was held on Thursday evening.
The ceremony was officiated by State Minister Hassan Rasheed and Chief Project Management Officer Ahmed Latheef.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct reclamation operations in an area measuring 19,780 cubic meters.
The project also entails the construction of a 650-meter geo bag revetment.
The Kinolhas shore protection project is valued at MVR 11.45 million.
MTCC mobilized the project site on 20 August 2023.
The former administration’s Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC on 18 April 2023.
The project was contracted to be completed within 180 days.
