The land reclamation and shore protection project initiated on Magoodhoo island of Faafu atoll, is progressing well.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.
As such, taking to social media platform ‘X’ to provide the latest updates of the Magoodhoo land reclamation and shore protection project to the public, MTCC revealed that the project has reached overall 50 percent progress.
MTCC revealed that they recently completed island reclamation operations as part of the project.
Currently ongoing is work on the geobag filling component of the project.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC was contracted to complete land reclamation operations in an area spanning 17 hectares.
Further, airport reclamation operations will be carried out across 30.8 hectares of land.
The project also entails the constructions of a rock boulder revetment measuring 1,948 meters, a geo bag revetment measuring 1,665 meters and a 90-meter groyne.
The Magoodhoo land reclamation and shore protection project is valued at MVR 232.26 million.
