The number of arrests made over the violence that broke out at the National Football Stadium, more commonly known as Galolhu Stadium, during a game, has risen to 10.

The violence is to have broken out during the second division quarter-final match between Victory Sports Club and Kuda Henveiru team, last week.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that while the match was proceeding, a group of spectators stormed the field and wreaked havoc. They are also reported to have assaulted players and officials of Victory Sports Club.

A total of 10 individuals have been arrested over the violence and assault, so far.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.

During the violence, Victory team’s coach Sobah Mohamed Ibrahim was also attacked.
