The development needs of Gaadhiffushi island of Thaa atoll, have been shared with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

This was done during a meeting the president held with members of the Gaadhiffushi council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Thursday.

The meeting with Gaadhiffushi residents was held as part of the president’s brief three-day tour of some islands of Thaa atoll, which he began on Tuesday and concluded on Thursday.

During the meeting held at the office of Fenaka Corporation, the president was briefed on the development needs, concerns and issues facing the island community including space constraints at the Gaadhiffushi Island School and council secretariat.

The councilors also shed light on the challenges faced due to the condition of the harbor, and sought a solution for the issue.

President Muizzu was also briefed on the need to resolve issues related to fisheries, land scarcity, and the deepening of the harbor channel.

Gaadhiffushi councilors also expressed the need for ATM services, a proper waste management system, and development of the health center.

The meeting also saw members of the island’s WDC requesting the president to recommence the development projects that have been halted on the island.

Listening to these concerns, the president noted that his administration would begin efforts to restart the halted projects, adding that they would expedite ongoing projects as well.

He also noted that he would work to resolve the issues raised at the meeting, in consultation with relevant authorities.
