Police locating man accused of stealing mobile phone

A manhunt has been launched for an individual accused of theft.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) publicized a CCTV footage on Sunday, which shows a man dressed in a red and white plaid shirt and blue denim shorts, walking down the road and taking a seat on a motorcycle. He is then seen reaching into the storage compartment of the bike and slipping a mobile phone out, into his pocket before walking off.

The case of the mobile phone being stolen from the pocket of the motorcycle parked in Maafannu-ward of the capital Malé City is currently being investigated by the Maafannu Police Station.

The publication was made as police efforts to identify the man have been to no avail so far.

The public has been urged to reach out to the Maafannu Police Station through 9660183 if any information on the whereabouts of identity of the suspect, is attained.

The police institution also took the opportunity to express gratitude to the public for the support and assistance extended in such cases.
