President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed gratitude to the government of Türkiye for the continuous support and assistance extended to the government of Maldives in multiple sectors.
The Maldivian leader extended gratitude during a courtesy call paid on him by the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye Ali Yerlikaya on Tuesday.
The Turkish minister called on President Muizzu at the Presidential Guesthouse in Türkiye.
Discussions at the meeting revolved around efforts to increase cooperation in multiple areas including counterterrorism, cybersecurity as well as providing tailored training for Maldives civil defence.
Expressing interest to explore new avenues for cooperation, President Muizzu stated that he was keen to enhance partnerships between the two countries in existing areas of collaboration, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
The Turkish minister expressed gratitude to President Muizzu for choosing Turkey as the destination for his first official visit as the eighth president of Maldives.
The Maldivian leader headed to Turkey with his spouse, Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level delegation of Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials on November 26 and concluded the trip on November 29.
