The harbor development project in Lhaimagu island of Shaviyani atoll is nearing completion.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Sunday.
As such, taking to ‘X’ to provide the latest updates of the Lhaimagu harbor development project to the public, MTCC revealed that the project has reached 85 percent progress overall.
Further, the revetment profiling component of the project has reached 10 percent progress.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct dredging operations for the new harbor basin in an area spanning 24,343 cubic meters, dredging operations for the existing harbor basin in a 14,412-cubic meter area and channel dredging operations in an area measuring 6,000 cubic meters.
The company will be constructing a 414-meter quay wall, a breakwater measuring 350 meters and a revetment measuring 500 meters.
The project also entails the construction of a 50-meter groynes, a harbor pavement measuring 2,291 square meters and a ramp.
Further, MTCC will be installing navigational lights and harbor lights as part of the project.
The Lhaimagu harbor development project is valued at MVR 60.70 million.
The project was contracted to MTCC by the previous administration’s Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
