Police launch manhunt for two over criminal offences

A manhunt has been launched for two suspects wanted in connection with criminal offenses.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the two men are being sought in connection with a case submitted at the Criminal Court.

Police efforts to locate the two men have been to no avail so far, with which the publication was made on Wednesday.

The Criminal Court has issued an order to the police institution to locate the two men, take them into custody and present them before court.

Being located are Ahmed Safneez, 40 and native to capital Malé City and Mohamed Saaif Ali, 23 and native to Kolamaafushi island of Gaaf Alif atoll. The latter is wanted under accusations of refusing to provide a urine sample.

Safneez is wanted in connection with accusations of engaging in an illegal sexual interaction.

Both suspects are to be presented before court on November 13, Safneez at 9am and Saaif at 1pm.

The public has been urged to contact the MPS Custodial Department through 9991442 if any information regarding the whereabouts or identity of the two men, is attained.

The police institution took the opportunity to express gratitude to the public for the immense support and assistance extended in connection with such cases.
