Police Memorial Day is marked on July 23rd

Home Minister Azleen Ahmed has said that those who defame the Police must be penalized.

Speaking in the ceremony held to mark Police Memorial Day held in Iskandhar Koshi, Minister Azleen said that the loss of one Police officer is a loss to public defence and safety, adding that there were some who had an agenda of besmirching Police in public sphere.

Speaking in the ceremony, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef said that every July 23rd was marked as Police Memorial Day. He added that Police will always mark the contributions of those who had died in line of duty and their families.

A moment of silence was marked for those officers who had lost their lives in line of duty.

Several activities were held in Police stations across the nation to mark Police Memorial Day. Home Minister Azleen Ahmed, Commissioner of Police Ahmed Areef, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ahmed Saudhee, executive officers at Police, Commissioned Officers, several officers and families of officers who had died in line of duty had participated in these activities.

Police Memorial Day is marked annually on July 23rd from 2013 onward.
