A maid has been arrested over accusations of child abuse.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) received reports of the incident on October 24.
The Indian national is accused of abusing a young girl in the residence she’s employed at, in capital Malé City.
Arrested under a court order was a 22-year-old woman.
Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for her remand hearing, the woman was slapped with 15 days in remand on October 25.
The police institution is currently conducting further investigations into the case.
Investigations on cases linked to children, especially abuse and violence, are deemed high-priority by relevant authorities.
