The man who was critically injured after a cylinder exploded at Kulhudhuffushi Airport, is to be taken abroad for further treatment.
Four individuals were injured in the explosion that occurred at Kulhudhuffushi Airport in the north of Maldives, on October 19. The four individuals injured in the blast were rushed to Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital at around 11:12am on Thursday.
Regional Airports MD Mohamed Rizwee confirmed that the FED system used for the airport’s trill was being tested, and workers had been testing the pressure of some of the equipment when the explosion occurred.
The patient in critical condition, 37, was taken to the operation theatre immediately and the remaining three had sought treatment for injuries of different severity as well.
The 37-year-old patient was transferred to Malé City for further treatment earlier. He is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit at ADK Hospital.
RaajjeMV understands that he is still in critical condition and work is currently underway to take him abroad for further treatment.
The media official at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital earlier told RaajjeMV that the critically injured man had a severely fractured arm.
The three others who were injured in the blast are a 25-year-old woman, a 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, all airport staff.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) stated that further investigations are currently underway.
