The harbor development project site in Eydhafushi island of Baa atoll, has been mobilized.

This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.

As such, taking to Twitter to provide the latest updates of the Eydhafushi harbor development project to the public, MTCC revealed that they mobilized the project site on September 7.

MTCC revealed that the physical work of the project will only begin after an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is carried out.

The Eydhafushi harbor development project is valued at MVR 64.67 million.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to MTCC.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct maintenance dredging operations in an area measuring 28,304 cubic meters and channel dredging operations in an area measuring 3,354 cubic meters.

The project also entails the construction of a quay wall measuring 402 meters, a 170-meter breakwater, a revetment measuring 383 meters, a ramp measuring 11 meters by 11 meters and a bridge measuring 18 meters by two meters.

MTCC will also be installing a pavement measuring 1,814 square meters under the scope of the project.

The installation of harbor lights and mooring buoys is also entailed.

The company revealed that with the completion of the project, the challenges facing island residents in transport and docking vessels will be resolved. It is also expected to leave a positive impact on the island’s economy and the lives of the island community.
