Newly completed infrastructure projects have been inaugurated in Gaadhiffushi and Madifushi islands of Thaa atoll.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the projects during separate ceremonies held in the respective islands on Monday.
Inaugurated on Monday were a water and sewerage network, newly wrapped up coastal protection, a new FENAKA Corporation office in Gaadhiffushi Island as well as a volleyball court in Madifushi.
President Solih inaugurated the projects as part of his campaign tour across Thaa atoll, ongoing as part of his bid for re-election in this year’s Presidential election, slated for September.
The Maldivian leader was accorded a warm welcome upon arrival in both islands.
The development of the water and sewerage network and the coastal protection project in Gaadhiffushi were undertaken by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
As part of the coastal protection project, MTCC installed a revetment measuring 500 meters, as well as groynes measuring 15 meters.
The new FENAKA office unveiled on Monday is a spacious and modern facility that can accommodate up to 30 employees.
The new volleyball court unveiled as part of the president’s visit to Madifushi was developed by Brilliant Company Private Limited.
These initiatives will pave the path for a high-quality field for local athletes alongside supporting the development of sports across the scatter of island comprising Maldives.
The incumbent administration has made significant strides towards the equitable development of all inhabited islands nationwide without discrimination, under the capable leadership of President Solih.
The government-led initiatives have ensured that the quality of life of island residents have been enhanced and they have been empowered to lead dignified lives.
President Solih has been officially inaugurating several development initiatives that have been completed across the scatter of islands comprising the Maldives, as part of his campaign tours.
The initiatives underway on the islands represent significant investments in the development and well-being of island communities and are expected to enhance their quality of life.
