President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the completion of several infrastructure projects in three islands of Baa atoll.
President Solih inaugurated the completed infrastructure projects in Fulhadhoo, Fehendhoo and Goidhoo Islands of Baa Atoll.
The projects were inaugurated on Monday, as part of the President's tour of the atoll.
During his visit to Fulhadhoo Island, President Solih inaugurated the new harbor of the island, the new powerhouse and the Fenaka Office established in the island.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) completed the development of the new harbor on Fulhadhoo Island. The upgrade included several improvements to the harbor's infrastructure, including dredging the harbor and channel basin to increase their depth, installing port lights, and constructing 558 square meters of pavement to improve accessibility and functionality.
The offshore harbor features a 68.3-metre-long, 10-metre-wide bridge to connect it to the island. These enhancements are expected to improve the harbor's efficiency and safety, supporting the local community's transportation needs.
The new powerhouse of Fulhadhoo Island has the power generation capacity of 538 kilowatts, providing reliable and efficient energy to the local community and was constructed away from the residential area to minimise disruption to residents.
The new Fenaka Office established in the island can accommodate up to 15 employees.
On Monday, the President visited Fehendhoo Island and inaugurated the completion of the new harbor of the island as well.
Fehendhoo Harbor Development Project included several enhancements to the harbor's infrastructure, such as dredging the harbor and channel basin to increase their depth, installing port lights, and constructing 558 square meters of pavement to improve accessibility and functionality. The offshore harbor features a 57.7-metre-long, 10-metre-wide bridge to connect it to the island. These improvements are expected to provide significant benefits to the local community by improving the efficiency and safety of the harbor.
Additionally, the President visited Goidhoo Island of the atoll and inaugurated the island's water supply and sewerage network, a skate park, and a volleyball court.
The Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) was contracted to develop the water supply and sewerage network. With the completion of residential connections, service delivery has been initiated.
Maldives Assure Supply developed the volleyball court on the island as part of the administration's focus on developing sports infrastructure.
Brothers Mall was contracted to develop the skate park, which is popular among the youth on the island.
These infrastructure developments would improve the quality of life for residents and support economic growth in the region.
Under President Solih's leadership, the administration has achieved significant strides towards equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives. During his visits to various islands, President Solih is officially inaugurating the completion of numerous projects and services.
