A land reclamation project in Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll, has been contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The contract was signed during a ceremony held at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on Sunday.
Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq signed the agreement on behalf of the government and Chief Operating Officer Shahid Hussain Moosa signed it on behalf of MTCC.
Under the project, MTCC is required to reclaim 20.95 hectares of land, construct 359 meters of revetment, a 1,600-meter breakwater and groynes measuring 180 meters.
The land reclamation project in Naifaru island is valued at MVR 141,299,506.08.
MTCC was contracted to complete the project within 330 days.
