A "National Complaints Bureau" has been set up to receive complaints related to the 2023 Presidential Election.
The National Complaints Bureau is located at the Election Centre, Dharubaaruge.
The Elections Commission states that complaint form will be available from the Election Commission website, from the Election Centre, the counter of the Election Commission office, and from the election focal points established at island councils, city councils and atoll councils.
The complaint form will also be available from the focal points established abroad.
The complaints bureau can be contacted at 3004498 and 3004450. The email address of the bureau is [email protected].
Elections Commission notes that complaints sent via email will also be accepted.
The bureau will be opened through Saturday to Thursday, from 08:00 am to 03:00 pm and from 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm on Fridays.
Additionally, EC notes that even though a National Complaints Bureau has been established in relation to the Presidential Election, any case of corruption regarding the election should be reported to the Anti-Corruption Commission and that any case related to broadcasting should be reported to the Broadcasting Commission.
This year's Presidential Election is slated for 09 September. A total of 282,755 people are eligible to vote in the election.
