Government coalition partner to establish four new tourist resorts
Siyam announced that one would be developed by next year while the rest would be developed by 2019
Three of these resorts are to be developed in Maldives while the fourth is located in Sri Lanka
Local news outlets have reported that Siyam had asked the government to be a guarantor for a loan of up to USD 200 million

The Sun Siyam Group has announced that it is developing four new tourist resorts, said the company’s founder Ahmed Siyam.

Siyam, who is also incumbent President Abdulla Yameen’s coalition partner and a sitting parliamentarian, said this the World Travel Awards’ gala for the Indian Ocean region. He announced that one would be developed by next year while the rest would be developed by 2019.

As such, Siyam said that the Sun Aqua Faandhoo resort – in construct on Faandhoo island of Dhaalu atoll – would be completed by December. He said the Sun Siyam Aluvifushi resort – also in the same atoll – will be developed by May next year.

He further said that while the Sun Siyam Dhigurah – constructed in Noonu atoll – will be completed by June next year, the company is also working to develop a resort in Sri Lanka.  

Local news outlets have reported that Siyam had asked the government to be a guarantor for a loan of up to USD 200 million. However, it is unclear if this request had been granted.
