The football ground developed in Thuraakunu island of Haa Alif atoll has officially been inaugurated.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the Thuraakunu football ground as part of his ongoing campaign tour of Haa Alif atoll.

The newly opened football field on the island features modern amenities including turf installation.

The project was taken on by Myna Sports Field Pvt. Ltd.

Several development initiatives have been implemented across the scatter of islands comprising the archipelago nation, by the incumbent administration, in a bid to provide modern football grounds, futsal fields, and sports courts.

The government’s ongoing efforts carry the purpose of promoting healthy and active lifestyles among young people and to foster the development of local athletic talent.

During his visit to Thuraakunu, President Solih also inaugurated the ‘Uthuru Vehi’ children’s park established in the island.

Developed by the Solih administration, the park comes under the ongoing efforts to provide opportunities for people of all ages to live healthy, active and dignified lives.
