The new powerhouse of Thinadhoo island was inaugurated as part of President Solih's tour of Vaavu Atoll, on Monday.
The powerhouse will provide reliable and sustainable energy to the island's residents.
The new 1.3-megawatt powerhouse on Thinadhoo Island is located away from residential and tourist areas.
The administration initiated the project to address the challenges faced by residents of the island.
The Maldivian leader departed on the three-day campaign tour on Saturday, as part of his campaign for re-election in the upcoming Presidential election. His tour of Meemu and Vaavu atolls concluded on Monday.
During the visits the president held discussions with the island communities regarding their needs and the issues they are currently facing.
In Vaavu atoll, President Solih visited Rakeedhoo, Keyodhoo, Felidhoo, Thinadhoo and Fulidhoo, where he held discussions with the island communities regarding their needs and requirements.
So far, the Maldivian leader has embarked on campaign tours across Shaviyani and most recently, Kaafu atoll.
The incumbent administration has made significant progress in ensuring parallel development of all inhabited islands across the nation, as well as efforts to improve the living standards of citizens and enabling them to live a dignified life.
